If you loved going to a corner bar, you would love Divey and Dodger, which was located in Bucktown. The Divey and Dodger bar was opened in 1985 and closed in 2005. Today, the building has been turned into condominiums.

At one particular time, it was taken over by a manager who did everything to please the crowd and brought in new musically talented DJs, a larger inventory of cocktails, good bartenders and an improved interior. Before long, this was one of the most popular hookup clubs in the area. Many locals that didn't like the huge clubs would target Simpson Moe's Tavern. For those who loved being naughty and flirty, the Big Nasty was the place where college kids would hang out.

For those who loved jazz, the Bucket O'Suds was known to be really enjoyable. In fact, it was one of the most well visited Hookup Bars in the area during the late 1970s. If you were a beer lover, the "Great Beer" had as many beers that you could drink for one night, especially German beers. It was the kind of place that attracted mostly men who wanted to hang out somewhere before going home.

The Constellation was another bar that welcomed locals. The bar was opened in the early 1980s, but did not last for more than a couple years. The Katerina was also a jazz bar, which stayed open until 2002, but while it was in operation, it had live musical entertainment from artists in the local area. Lyon's Den was a dive bar that hosted comedy acts and live shows. It closed down in 2004. The Lava Lounge closed in 2005 and moved to another location. The Hudson Club was one of the hookup spots that attracted young professionals who wanted to have a good time after a long day at work. Unfortunately, it did not last very long on the club scene and closed in the mid 2000s.
